
Expert Optometrist: Dr. Harmer
Dr. Harmer started the practice here in Carteret in September 1975. He recieved his undergraduate degree from St. Peter’s College in 1971. He attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, Pa, and received his doctor of optometry degree in 1975.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association, and the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians. He is presently President-Elect of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians. He is a member of the National Glaucoma Society and also OCRT, the Optometric Council on Refractive Surgery.
From 1998 until July of 2009 Dr. Harmer was the Clinical Director for TLCvision Laser Eye Centers in Elmwood Park, NJ. In July, 2009 he became the Clinical Director of the Dry Eye Center of Excellence at Omni Eye Services in West Orange, NJ, and the Clinical Director of Clarity Refractive Services in West Orange, NJ.
He has lectured extensively to other optometrists on such topics as Laser Vision Correction, Dry Eye, and Glaucoma. He has provided eye care services to residents of Carteret, Rahway and Woodbridge, NJ for over 37 years. He has also been published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
He resides in New Jersey with his wife and two children.
